Wildlife Encounters Program
The Busch Wildlife Sanctuary is dedicated to serving the community by providing learning experiences about the fascinating wonders of Florida's wildlife and natural ecosystems. This summer, we are proud to offer one-week programs for children ages 6 to 14 years old. The interaction with live animals makes these programs uniquely valuable and will offer your child a wonderful experience in learning about nature. Children will find the Sanctuary's summer program to be informative, entertaining and extremely educational. The cost per week for the Encounter Program is $250.
Children will participate in several fun activities designed to teach them about south Florida wildlife, the ecosystem in which they live, and how humans can live in harmony with nature. They will also enjoy arts & crafts, sports and more. An experienced teacher, along with trained counselors and instructors, will lead the group through a week of fun filled learning experiences unlike any they have ever had! Each week their experience will include a field trip to a location such as the River Center, Lion Country Safari, Loxahatchee Wildlife Refuge, Green Cay National Center and Jonathan Dickenson State Park. Some field trips may include water activities.
Each session will have similar activities which will include:
WILD FLORIDA - Explore south Florida's Ecosystems and native wildlife by participating in activities that focus on how animals interact and survive in the environment.
BIRDS OF A FEATHER - Fly like an eagle and learn about Florida's majestic birds. Students will participate in projects geared toward learning about birds of pray and other native bird life.
MAMMALS EXTREME - Discover the many mammals that call Florida home. Students will participate in activities to help them understand how mammals survive in the wild and how we can help protect their habitats.
SLITHER, CRAWL, AND SNAP - Learn about Florida's reptiles and amphibians and explore their habitats and unique adaptations necessary for survival.
