Brief Job Description: Responsible for the planning, coordination, implementation, and supervision of facility maintenance and grounds keeping at Busch Wildlife Sanctuary. This position is responsible for maintaining and repairing equipment, animal enclosures, buildings and associated infrastructure.

Schedule: Full time 40 hours per week

Hires, on-boards, trains, and supervises maintenance staff.

Ensures public and staff restrooms are clean and stocked.

Cleans and/or coordinates cleaning of public areas and staff areas including the Discovery center, gift shop, commissary, employee breakroom, conference room, amphitheater, administration, and other areas.

Supervises community service volunteers including interviewing, coordinating training, maintaining written records, and disciplining if/when necessary.

Works closely with Animal Care Director on maintenance of all pools and pumps.

Coordinates the upkeep of grounds including mowing grass, trimming trees and weeds, clearing parking lots, and planting trees and bushes.

Works with Department Directors on projects that involve designing, building and/or maintaining buildings, animal exhibits, enclosures, and equipment.

Implements and oversees the completion of construction projects and repairs of buildings, including form pour concrete, framing, drywall, roofing, and electric and plumbing work.

Completes written work orders or verbal instructions from Operations Director and Sanctuary Department Directors in a timely manner.

Inspects buildings, grounds, and equipment to ensure maintenance and repairs are scheduled appropriately.

Conducts maintenance and repairs on facilities including plumbing, filtration and electrical systems, including replacing worn or defective parts. Replaces and/or repairs rotten wood, building brick, stone, and concrete. Oversees hiring and management of subcontractors for work as needed.

Develops and implements a systematic program of preventative maintenance for buildings, enclosures, grounds, and vehicles.

Completes monthly facilities check list.

Ensures generators are started and run monthly.

Drives vehicles, loads fallen tree limbs and trash, and puts refuse in onsite dumpster.

Facilitates or oversees a contractor in the repair or replacement of worn or damaged equipment and machine parts such as hoses, wiring, and belts.

Ensures that buildings, gutters and windows are clean and properly maintained.

Inspects and maintains vehicles and golf carts.

Operates equipment as needed to maintain paths, sidewalks, and driveways.
