Brief Job Description: Responsible for supervising volunteer workers and providing direction, coordination, and consultation for all volunteer functions within the organization to help strengthen public or private programs and to involve a community of supporters; responsible for a variety of administrative tasks including taking in animal admissions, answering incoming phone calls, Discovery Center Attendant, providing back up for the gift shop by performing the following duties.

Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Recruits new volunteers.*

Holds the interviews and orientation meetings.*

Coordinates volunteer training.*

Develops with directors, maintains and trains volunteers in policies, procedures, and standards of work.*

Develops, promotes, and maintains a wide range of volunteer opportunities throughout the organization.*

Reviews written reports and observes work activities of volunteers to evaluate performance.*

Maintains accurate records and provides timely statistical and activity reports on volunteer participation.*

Reports on volunteer participation actively.*

Confers and/or works with volunteers directly to resolve any grievances or issues and promotes cooperation and interest.*

Supervises volunteers including recruiting, interviewing, placing applicants for volunteer work, conducts or coordinates their training, and disciplining volunteers.*

Develops and oversees program budget, newsletter, appreciation and volunteer benefits.*

Organizes and participates in volunteer recognition programs.*

Responsible for filling in for hospital front desk/phone coverage as needed.*

Act as for Discovery Center attendant one day a week and fill in coverage as needed.*

Helps provide a fun, educational, and positive Sanctuary experience for guests.*

Responsible for gift shop coverage as needed.*
